Dashboard notifications

This article explains how notifications work in the dashboard and how they can help reduce turnaround time

Overview

Rather than repeatedly checking applications for updates, users are notified when key events occur. These include an applicant uploading documents or connecting Open Banking.

Notifications surface in two ways to help users quickly identify where action is needed:

  • On assigned applications: Via a bell icon in the top-right corner of the Decisions page.

  • On unassigned applications: Through organisation-level indicators in the Outcome filters that highlight decisions with new updates.

Notification bell

The notification bell appears in the top-right of the Decisions page.

  • For new or outstanding notifications, a red badge appears on the bell icon.

  • The number shown represents the total number of pending notifications for the user and updates automatically when the user takes the relevant action, such as navigating to the sub-tab associated with the notification.

  • Clicking the bell opens the notification log.

Users access the corresponding decision by clicking the notification in the log. Notifications are removed from the bell count once the relevant action has been completed, either by clicking the notification or viewing the relevant sub-tab.

Notification log

The notification log shows a list of recent notifications.

Each notification:

  • Relates to a specific event on a decision

  • Indicates what has happened (for example, a document upload)

  • Can be clicked to navigate directly to the relevant area of the application

Users can:

  • View their most recent notifications

  • Load older notifications, if available

  • Clear notifications once the relevant action has been completed

Clicking a notification takes the user directly to the event source. For example:

  • An ID document upload notification opens the ID > Uploads sub-tab

  • An Open Banking connection notification opens the Affordability sub-tab

Events that trigger notifications

Notifications are created when specific, decision-related events occur that require lender attention.

Only requested actions generate notifications. Each action results in a separate notification.

The following events trigger notifications:

  • Requested document uploads

    • ID documents

    • Payslips

    • Bank statements

  • Requested open banking connections

  • New decisions from a broker

Each requested document upload, open banking connection, or new broker decision generates one notification per event. Notifications are not grouped, even if multiple uploads or actions occur close together.

Notification visibility

Notifications surface in two different ways, depending on whether they are user-specific or organisation-level. These serve different purposes and are presented in different parts of the dashboard.

Private notifications (bell icon)

Private notifications alert a specific user that something has changed on a decision they are responsible for.

They are shown via the notification bell in the top-right of the dashboard and within the notification log.

The notification bell count is not affected by Decisions page filters. It always reflects all private notifications relevant to the user, regardless of whether filters such as My decisions, Unassigned, or Decisions with new updates are applied.

Key behaviour:

  • Only visible to users assigned to the decision (except new broker decisions, which are visible regardless of assignment)

  • Intended to prompt timely action on in-progress decisions

  • Generated by the following events:

    • Requested document uploads (ID, payslips, bank statements)

    • Requested open banking connections

    • New decisions from a broker

  • Notifications are tied to the decision, not the user — reassignment does not remove existing notifications

How they appear:

  • As a count on the bell icon

  • As individual items in the notification log

Clearing or acting on these notifications removes them from the bell count.

Organisation-level updates (decision list indicators)

Organisation-level updates are not delivered via the notification bell. Instead, they are surfaced through the Outcome filters on the Decisions page.

These indicators are designed to give visibility of updates across the organisation, even where no user has yet been assigned to the decision.

Key behaviour:

  • They appear as counts alongside the following outcome filter options:

    • Decisions with new updates

    • New decisions from broker

  • Organisation-level counts update automatically — no page refresh is required

  • These indicators are triggered by the same events as private notifications:

    • Requested document uploads (ID, payslips, bank statements)

    • Requested open banking connections

    • New broker decisions

This ensures that:

  • Updates are not missed simply because a decision is unassigned

  • Any loan officer can proactively identify decisions that may need attention

Filtering decisions with updates

The Decisions page includes outcome filters that allow users to quickly focus on applications with recent activity.

Alongside the existing outcome filters (All, Accept, Decline, Refer), the following options are available:

  • Decisions with new updates

  • New decisions from broker

These filters work in combination with the broader decision scope controls:

  • My decisions – shows only decisions assigned to the current user

  • Unassigned – shows decisions not currently assigned to a user

  • All – shows all decisions

Key behaviour:

  • Decisions remain flagged as having new updates until the user navigates to the relevant sub-tab (for example, the Uploads or Open Banking section)

  • This happens automatically when clicking a notification, or manually if the user opens the relevant decision and sub-tab

  • Simply opening a decision without visiting the sub-tab does not remove the flag

Examples:

  • Selecting All and Decisions with new updates shows all decisions across the organisation that have had some form of update

  • Selecting Unassigned and New decisions from broker highlights broker decisions that have not yet been picked up

Using these filters allows users to act on organisation-level updates, even if they did not receive a private notification via the bell icon.

How notifications help you work more efficiently

Notifications are designed to help loan officers prioritise their work and respond to application updates quickly and confidently.

By surfacing key events as soon as they happen, such as requested document uploads, open banking connections, or new broker decisions. Notifications reduce the need to manually check applications and ensure important updates are not missed.

Private notifications in the bell icon highlight updates on decisions you are responsible for, while organisation-level indicators in the Outcome filters ensure new or unassigned activity is visible across the wider team. Together, these features help teams move applications forward more efficiently and reduce overall decision turnaround times.
